The Adventures of Bus 562 in the Golan Heights
Today marked the first full official day for Bus 562. We began our day with a breakfast prepared by Kibbutz Gadot. The first item on our agenda was a hike through the Majrase river where we began to acquaint ourselves with our new Israeli and American friends and the beautiful landscape of Israel. Our journey then set off to the Golan Heights where we went to various sites, the first one being a military post that was once under Syrian control.
There, we learned the history and got to take pictures in an inactive military bunker. We went to Mount Bental, where we could see the Israel/Syria border. We learned the history and recent hardships of that area while getting to interact with UN soldiers from Ireland, Switzerland, and Australia. We also went rafting down the Jordan River, which was ice cold despite the heat wave.
