ISRAEL DAY 3: Life to the Limit!!!
Woah man! What a day! After a quick breakfast, we traveled to Mt. Meron - a huge mountain in the middle of the upper Galilee. Once pictures were taken, we eventually stopped near a tree where our Israeli Tour Educator, Osnat, explained how there are four cities in Israel that represent four elemental forces. The city we were heading to, Tzfat, was the city of wind.
We hiked back to the bus and headed towards Tzfat. Once there, we had some time for lunch and shopping. There, I went with Bareket, another Israeli on our trip, who knew the area pretty well since her old army base was nearby; she brought a group of us to a good place to eat. It was wonderful!
Meeting back up with the group, we went through a small alley market that led to a house concert! Getting me pumped like a balloon, the musicians performed really well using a variety of percussive instruments including a hand drum (kind of like a steel drum). I got their card and their cd, as well as some info to look up about the Arabic musical scale they used.
We thanked the musicians and moved on to a glass blower's house. Her history was deep in America and she told us her story while creating a glass blown cup. She had made Aliya to Israel not knowing what she was going to do when she arrived, but she knew she wanted to be a part of this amazing country. After explaining her lifestyle and choices while beautifully creating her art, this woman gave us life advice to find your spark and continue to breathe your own life and creativity into it.
The cup was complete, and with that, ended our day out in Tzfat.
Finally, we arrived back at our kibbutz, exhausted from all the events that had happened today. Here's to an exciting tomorrow, which I am sure will happen in the land of milk and honey. Night!
