Welcome To Israel
This morning we landed in Israel at around 10:00am local time. After gathering our bags and getting through passport control, we were met by singing and dancing from the seven Israelis who will be on our trip for our entire time in Israel! Following a brief meet and greet, we were off to the bus to exchange our currency into Israeli shekels and head north to the Golan Heights. Along the way on our trip up north, we stopped at a scenic overlook high above the Sea of Gailee and said a Shecheyanu to officially start our journey in Israel.
We then headed to Kibbutz Afik where we will be spending the next few nights getting to know the other participants on our trip. Our homemade dinner of chicken schnitzel, baked chicken, lasagna, salad, vegetables, hummus and fruit was delicious.
My personal favorite part was seeing the faces of the participants when they finally got off the plane and realized they were in Israel. In a word, awe. It was also very interesting to klearn the different positions of our Israeli participants and what they do in the IDF on a daily basis to keep Israel safe.
Tomorrow we are going on a hike in the Zavitan followed by kayaking down the Jordan River!
