Day 9: A Day of Outdoor Learning
We started our day out with some community service. We traveled to an apple orchard run by Leket which is a non profit organization that provides meals for low income families. Everyone joined in the activity and pitched in picking apples off the trees.
We then traveled to Burgerim, a local burger joint, and enjoyed some grub before heading on to the next stop.
Next, was the Weizmann Institute of Science where we engaged in a interactive display about space, healthcare, matter, and technology. We got to use digital Ouija boards, touch screens, and watched cool videos. We continued to the Science Garden where the outdoor space resembles a playground. Each obstacle had a different aspect of science build into the exercise. This fun take on science capped off the end of our time at the institute.
We then moved on to our last sight for the day, the Chai Farm. Here we learned about milking goats and herding animals. We also got to feed the torturous' and talk to the parrots. We ended the experience with a session on how to make cheese and we each got to make our own personal wheel of cheese, which was delicious.
Back at the hotel, we had our final evening activity. Our talent show was a huge hit, everyone participated in some way and it was great endcap to the week. We had a variety of acts from singing to comedy.
Tomorrow is our last day in Israel and we will be touring Har Herzl, the military cemetery and visiting Ben Yehuda Street for some shopping and a vista to say goodbye to the our homeland before heading to the airport for our trek home.
