Day Four: New Cultural Horizons
Our day started with an hour ride to Tel Aviv where we spent the day seeing the youthful city and modern culture first-hand. Traveling the streets, we saw cafes, art galleries and a vibrant community of young adults enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors.
The first stop of the day was the Palmach Museum. By far one of the coolest exhibits in Israel, this interactive experience is filled with elaborate theming and videos. It recounts the stories of soldiers protecting Israel's independence during its inception.
The tour took us on a journey with five soldiers sharing their sacrifice and commitment to securing israel's borders, as David Ben Gurion secured her statehood. After a picnic lunch, we headed to Independence Hall to see where the Israeli Declaration of Independence was signed.
This is one of the most important sites related to the modern state of Israel and is a stop in almost every group trip. The original, modest building reflects the humble beginning of our nation. We continued to explore Tel Aviv on foot, walking along the famous beaches. We had time for some snacks, ice cream, smoothies, and pictures.
We are now on the bus headed back to our hotel to prepare for Shabbat. As we usher in Shabbat, we look forward to spending time together as a group and catching up on some much needed rest.
Shabbat shalom from Jerusalem.
Warm Regards
