Dead Sea
Today, I was lucky enough to go and experience the Dead Sea with my Birthright Israel group. At first I was a little unsure about it, mainly because some of my group members had some painful memories due to the abundance of salt in the water. We arrived at a nice looking house right on the beach, which included a shop full of spa necessities and the oh so famous mud that we were all excited to lather ourselves with. After putting my backpack in a safe area, I was excited to cool off from this insanely hot weather. We were all very surprised after stepping in the water and realizing it felt like a hot tub. It was so cool being able to float in only 2 feet of water, and I was happy that there was minimal stinging during my experience.
It was recommended we only stay in the water for periods of 20 minutes to avoid dehydration, and that left us more than enough time to experience it to the fullest. I loved walking out of the water and rubbing my silky smooth skin.
My friends and I took a great picture covered in mud head to toe. One of my friends accidentally got some salt water in his eyes, so we all had a good laugh from his discomfort.
After getting out, we all had to head back to the changing room and thoroughly clean all of the salt off our bodies.
It was such a different experience being in such hot water, since I live near the Pacific Ocean which rarely reaches over 50 degrees farenheight. After everyone was cleaned off, we all walked to the bus ready for a long nap. I’d say it was a great day, and can’t wait to experience with my other friends and family.
