Desert Life Is Oh So Nice
Last night, we stayed in the Bedouin tents, which was a very unique experience. Their culture is like none other that I have ever experienced. They live in tents and are very spiritual people from my understanding. One of the Bedouins spoke to us about their culture and the way they live. They have very little communication with the outside world and rely solely on themselves for resources. An example that one of them used is that they need to stay healthy and rarely get sick due to the fact that they rarely see doctors
The whole group slept in the same tent, which was definitely something different. Let's just say that we have a couple sleep talkers and people who snore. It was definitely a bonding experience for the group though, which I believe brought us together. Before falling asleep, we roasted marshmallows by the fire which I enjoyed quite a bit. It's very nice being in the outside world without having technology available at your disposal.
This morning we woke up and went on a camel ride which was something most of us had never done. It was nice but the camels smelled quite a bit (LOL). I learned that they can go weeks without water and that the average life expectantly is 30-35 years for a camel. They really are mind-blowing animals. Following the camel ride we did a hike, which was very self-reflective. Being out in the desert, I feel very connected to my Jewish ancestors.
