Getting Salty
At 3:30 am, we were woken up in the bedoin tents by Neta saying wakey wakey. We had to catch the sunrise at masada.
The bedoins provided us with tea and cookies before our hike. The hike up Masada was challenging, but really short. Once we got to the top, we watched the sunrise. It was such a beautiful experience. We were then lead in yoga by one of our Israeli peers. After yoga, we went to the southern wall and heard echoes of our group yelling the word shorashim. That was really cool!!! Then, Neta showed us all the thousand year old buildings in Masada. On the way back down we took a longer trail.
We then ate breakfast and took the bus over to the dead sea. A few friends and I put some mud on ourselves before entering the Dead Sea. When we went in, our skin felt so smooth! Floating in the dead sea was one of the coolest feelings I've ever experienced. I was also amazed that I was walking on salt rather than sand when I entered the water.
Climbing Masada and floating in the Dead Sea were two of the most memorable experiences I've had so far. I was looking forward to doing both of these and I'm so glad that I finally did it!
