Update from 530
I thought the plane ride would be shorter, but at least I got to watch an "a-list" movie, a "b-list" movie, and a movie that will definitely make an appearance at the Razzies.
Let's get to the point: while waiting at the airport, I had the amazing opportunity to meet 39 people that I was looking forward to getting to know better. After speanding an entire 23 hours with them in the Holy Land, I feel like I already know some of them really well. Upon arriving in Israel, meeting the seven Israelis who will be joining us for all of the ten days of the trip (thanks Shorashim!) added a unique and eye-opening perspective to the group dynamic.
However, what really brings the group together is the physical location. The people here are amazing, but seeing ha'aretz through the lens of the locals is incredibly powerful. It was so moving to stand on the top of a cliff overseeing the Kinneret, as our hearts all started to sing in unison whilst overcome with overcome with beauty of the view.
Standing atop Har Bental demonstrated the valor and endurance of the Israeli people in times of struggle. I am so looking forward to the rest of the many sure to be unforgettable moments that are soon to happen and can't wait to spend the rest of the trip meeting new people and seeing magnificent sights!
